2024 Visayas Congress for Human Resource Practitioners
The Civil Service Commission Regional Office VIII hosted the 2024 Visayas Congress of Human Resource Management Practitioners from 21-22 May 2024 at Summit Hotel, Tacloban City.
The first-ever Visayas Congress conducted via a hybrid format was participated in by human resource practitioners who came all the way from the Western [RO6], Central [RO7] and Eastern Visayas [RO8] regions.
CSC Chairperson Karlo A.B. Nograles, in his keynote message, imparted the significance of this year’s theme “Leadership in Motion: Adapting, Thriving and Inspiring Change”, particularly the applicability of personal, organizational and societal adaptability. Chair Nograles emphasized the importance of learning application plan and advised the participants to incorporate their newfound knowledge into their work as HRs and HRMPs.
A line-up of well-chosen topics on Personal Adaptability such as Leadership Through Adaptive Change and Flexible Leadership; on Organizational Adaptability such as Reinventing Office Spaces for Improved Health and Wellbeing and Flex to Flux: Designing Organizations for Adaptability; on Societal Adaptability such as Evolving to Thrive in a Complex Ecosystem, Public Service Continuity Plan [PSCP] and Updates on Civil Service Matters filled the two-day learning activity making the experience expanse and exciting.
Subject matter experts like Director IV Nelson G. Sarmiento of the CSC Region VI, Dr. Marietta B. Sumagaysay of the UP College Tacloban, Dr. Exuperia Salbalerino, Regional Director of DOH-Region VIII, Ma. Lourdes B. Dela Calzada, Chief for Capacity Building and Training Service, Office of Civil Defense, Dr. Michael A. Jaro, Deputy Executive Director of the Eastern Visayas Medical Center, Dennis Beng Hui, Managing Director and Founder, Technopoly, Inc., and Director IV Ariel B. Bacatan of CSC Region VII, took turns in sharing their knowledge and expertise through their respective topics.
CSC Senior Commissioner Aileen Lourdes A. Lizada, as part of her closing message, shared updates on the proposed legislations pertaining to GSIS retirement benefits, lowering of the retirement age of the government employees and the HRMO as mandatory position, hinting progress on the said milestones.
The 2024 Visayas Congress of HRMPs was capped by the “Pasidungog”, a recognition rite and fellowship night to honor agencies who have complied with the Maturity Level 2 System and standards in the four HRM Areas namely: Recruitment Selection and Placement [RSP], Learning and Development [L&D], Performance Management [PM] and Rewards and Recognition [R&R] or the 2024 PRIME-HRM Bronze Awardees.
CSC Commissioner Ryan Alvin R. Acosta, in his Inspirational Message, underscores the focus of PRIME-HRM. “The key to success in any organization is identifying, developing and empowering the right people. This is precisely the focus of PRIME-HRM – people ”. “Which only proves that organizational success follows when we put premium on our people”, he continued.
